I have HotDocs installed on my machine, how do I upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5?
Please ensure you contact your IT administrator before upgrading.
Before upgrading HotDocs from v5.1 to v5.5 please ensure your current player and all other programs are closed.
You can run HotDocs v5.5 over the top of your current installation. Click on the following link to download the exe: http://bingham.butterworths.co.uk/Forms/HDPlayer.exe. You will be given the option to save or open the player, please select either option. During the installation you will be asked for a destination folder, please select the appropriate drive.
If you experience any problems with the installation please remove the program from ADD/REMOVE programs in the control panel and reinstall.
We have HotDocs installed to the network, how do we upgrade?
Before upgrading Hotdocs v5.1 to v5.5 please ensure all users are logged out of the program and Word is closed down on the Administrator’s machine you are upgrading from.
It is recommended that you test the upgrade before applying it to the live installation.
Install v5.5 by clicking on the following link http://bingham.butterworths.co.uk/Forms/HDPlayer.exe. You will be given the option to save or open the player, please select either option. During the installation you will be asked for a destination folder, please select the appropriate drive.
If you experience any problems with the installation please remove the program from ADD/REMOVE programs in the control panel and reinstall. Your settings should be retained as long as the Hotdocs.ini file is not removed.
Why do I need to Upgrade to v5.5?
The previous version of HotDocs (v5.1) made available via the LexisNexis products is no longer supported. In order to provide you with support for HotDocs in conjunction with LexisNexis online and CD products, you will need to upgrade to v5.5. HotDocs forms will continue to provide the full functional suite contained in v5.1.
Do I need to upgrade immediately?
It is recommended that you upgrade as soon as possible. Some HotDocs forms require v5.5 to enable the full functionality available. Online users will be able to download the updated version immediately.
Will I need to upgrade my computer to use HotDocs v5.5?
If you are able to run HotDocs v5.1, you should not need to upgrade your computer before installing Hotdocs v5.5.
What are the system requirements for HotDocs v5.5?
Windows NT 4, Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
128MB RAM
Pentium Processor
Internet Explorer 5.0, Netscape 5
Can I run HotDocs v5.5 and HotDocs v6.x on the same computer?
Yes, but they must be installed in different folders. Hotdocs v6.x should by default install to a folder called Hotdocs6.
Will my previously saved forms open in HotDocs v5.5?
Yes. Any forms previously saved in v5.1 can be opened in v5.5.
