Thumb Guide

Spin Bars Continued

TIP!

Notice the first spin-bar now contains an abbreviation of the selected section, eg. "C" = Butterworths Planning Law Service: Division D : Additional Controls and Powers.

Now click once on the down arrow in the second spin-bar.

Another drop-down list appears, sub-dividing the currently selected material still further.

  1. Locate the name of the division or chapter you require.
  2. Again, double-click on the section you require to select it.

The selected section will be displayed on the main page.

A third spin-bar would sub-divide the book still further into yet smaller divisions, A fourth, fifth or sixth spin-bar would progressively narrow the material down until you find the division you require.

What will I find in a particular spin-bar?

It depends on the book, the first spin-bar will always give the broadest category or subject divisions, the second from the left will narrow these categories down still further, and so on.

Shakespeare …A helpful analogy

Imagine accessing Shakespeare’s Complete Works using bos. Clicking into the first spin-bar would give you a scrolling list of all the available plays. The second spin-bar then divides the chosen play down into five separate acts, the third spin-bar divides the acts into scenes, while the fourth might divide these scenes into individual actor’s lines.

  • TIP! The spin-bars progressively break down the book. Start with the first on the left, and work your way through the spin-bars, left to right, until you find the material you require.
